Getting started
New to the xDBML playground? This section gets you oriented in a few minutes.
What's in this section
What is the playground?: a one-page overview of what the playground does, who it's for, and what it can and can't do.
A 60-second tour: a quick walkthrough of the three panes, the header, and how they fit together. Read this if you only have a minute.
Your first schema: a short hands-on exercise that has you start from a blank editor, write a simple schema, watch the diagram update as you type, and try a few of the interactive features.
Where to go next
After working through this section, you'll be ready for:
- The interface, with details on each pane and what the controls do.
- Reading the diagram, explaining what the visual elements mean: crow's foot notation, container styling, nested-field indentation, and the visual cues you'll see in the diagram.
- Working with schemas, covering how to load examples, share schemas via URL, and recover from typos.
If you want to learn the xDBML language itself rather than the playground tool, head to About xDBML for links to the 5-minute introduction, the specification, and the examples gallery.
